Clover Raises $2M In Funding To Expand On-Demand Dating Business
Toronto, Ont (PRWEB) July 23, 2015 -- Clover, the mobile on-demand dating service, announced today that it has closed $2 million in funding. The investment was led by New York based Social Starts with participation from a group of private investors. As part of the financing, Tony Wonnacott and Michael Allen will join Clover’s board of directors. Mr. Wonnacott is a corporate securities lawyer with experience in raising funds and listing companies in North America. Mr. Allen is Senior Partner at Collins Barrow, one of Canada’s largest Chartered Accounting firms. The latest round brings the total investment in Clover to $4 million.
The financing comes on the heels of a rapid user and revenue surge across the US. The company plans to use the new funds to accelerate growth, expand the platform and build out the team.
“Most dating services don’t do a good job of helping people meet in person,” says Isaac Raichyk, CEO of Clover. “Our on-demand approach streamlines the entire dating process and puts meeting in the real world back into focus.”
Clover was recently selected “Best New App” by Apple’s editors and featured prominently across the US and Canadian App Stores. Clover boasts a level of quality not typically seen in other dating apps and features a modern new look with a best-in-class user experience.
“Mobile has changed the way people meet and Clover is going to be a leader in the mobile social introduction space,” said Mike Edelhart, Lead Partner at Social Starts. “Isaac and his team have an invaluable amount of mobile experience, they’ve built a beautiful high quality product.”
Clover’s CEO Isaac Raichyk has a long history of starting successful businesses with more than 30 years experience in social media, online publishing, e-learning, voice recognition and retail. He’s founded five successful tech start-ups, including the 74 million user mobile video social network Keek and has successfully raised more than $50 million in pre-IPO equity financings.
