Coalition urges TLC to keep Duggars on the air
Front Royal, VA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- A growing coalition of prominent media stars are calling on Americans to sign a petition urging The Learning Channel (TLC) to keep the Duggar family on the air.
In response to the demand that TLC cancel the Duggars' popular show "19 Kids and Counting," the Benham Brothers -- who, according to CNN on May 9, saw their own HGTV show cancelled because of their pro-life and pro-family views -- said the effort to remove the Duggars is part of "the same agenda that attacked our family."
"The Duggars have always been an example of Christian love for each other and society," said the brothers. "It’s time for Americans to stand with them."
Comedian and former Fox News contributor Steven Crowder has also backed the petition, saying that "if you believe in the free market, this is your chance to participate, and support good people like the Duggars."
Dan Gainor, Vice President of Business and Culture at Media Research Center, said that the anti-Duggar petition shows that "liberals have decided that all views they oppose must be silenced."
The Duggars' critics have called for the family to be removed from TLC because, as reported by The Fayetteville Flyer on Aubust 18, Michelle Duggar did a robo-call opposing a bill that would allow men to use female locker rooms, showers, and restrooms.
Duggar opponents immediately launched their petition demanding that TLC cancel the show.
The anti-Duggar petition has over 100,000 petition signatures after E! Network, Huffington Post, and other media outlets ran stories highlighting the petition effort this week. The LifeSiteNews petition has garnered over 10,000 signatures in approximately five hours.
"...[T]he Duggars represent the majority of people in state after state who have stood up for the traditional family," says the petition. "The real extremists are those who are demanding that a TV network penalize America's beloved family because they support the truth about family, which they have always expressed in a loving, compassionate fashion."
