SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- FableLabs is an online platform that allows writers to rapidly pilot episodic stories and iterate off feedback/metrics to improve performance. They can easily add visuals, choices, and persistence. Couple all this with freemium monetization stories that can be produced for less than the cost of an eBook, but with the distribution potential of free-to-play mobile games. 1
Breaking into the game industry in a narrative-related position is a very difficult feat. Many would say that it is nearly impossible to have one's first job in games to do anything with narrative. Candidates in these types of roles typically have to bring something else to the table, such as game design, art, engineering, or production. After solidifying one's self in the workplace at a studio, they can then transition into the narrative side of development. Galen has done the nigh impossible with his very first job in games, being very much narrative-related, and it is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of.
Galen Sipes was initially sent the job posting from Cogswell College Professor of Practice, Evan Skolnick. Evan Skolnick happened to have mentored FableLab's Narrative Director, Jessica Delfanti, during his time as a contract writer/narrative designer at TinyCo. The training that Galen received at Cogswell College prepared him well for the job. Even with a great reference and a bit of a leg up, Galen still had to beat out over 100 other applicants for this entry-level game industry position.
Our Game Writing classes have lost a star pupil, but we've now got a great success story that I'd love to see us tell outside these walls," says Cogswell College Professor of Practice in Game Design and Development, Evan Skolnick.
