“It was a great experience for guests, as well as students. There were some amazing ideas and games developed over the weekend, and we look forward to seeing some of these projects further develop,” says Cogswell Polytechnical College Director of Game Design and Development, Ricardo Kayanan.

The Global Game Jam is the largest game creation event in the world. The GGJ takes place in hundreds of physical locations all around the globe. In 2019, the GGJ had over 860 global sites hosting the event. Locations included cities such as Barcelona, Stockholm, Shanghai, Algeria, and San Jose. Global Game Jam is, in a sense, a hackathon focused on game development. It is an amazing experience where various guests come together, share experiences and build genuine relationships through video games.

Cogswell faculty and staff have had plenty of experience with the GGJ. The 2020 GGJ marks the 12th year in a row that Cogswell has been a site host. Cogswell ensured that they not only had the facilities to run a great event but also provided the staffing and manpower to make it a great experience for all. Cogswell was pleased to have several industry partners involved in ensuring a smooth event and a comfortable setting for all attendees.
