Cold Chain Management Firm Modality Solutions Promotes Robert Battista to Senior Consulting Engineer

HOUSTON, Aug. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Modality Solutions, an Inc. 5000 biopharmaceutical cold chain engineering firm, is pleased to announce it has promoted Consulting Engineer, Robert Battista, to Senior Consulting engineer.
In his new leadership position with Modality Solutions, Battista has added the responsibility of onboarding and mentoring new engineers as well as the creation of additional business opportunities and cutting-edge research into cold chain hazards and solutions. Battista continues to work directly with clients to strategically create the proper validation of their cold chain systems through risk and gap analysis and subsequent mitigation plans. He then implements the validation master plan through the creation of standard operating procedures, qualification of critical equipment, validation of processes, and in-person training for essential personnel. This risk-based strategy results in supply chain validation in full alignment with regulatory expectations. He also conducts in-person training to ensure proper cold chain integration.
The promotion is a direct result of Battista's proven experience, knowledge, and top-notch leadership skills. Notably, since joining Modality Solutions in 2016, Battista has assisted in three overseas Ebola clinical trial operations in challenging environments. Most recently he served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
In the high-security risk environment, he and co-founder Daniel J. Littlefield ensured that three active Ebola Treatment Unit pharmacy depots met FDA and other international regulations regarding best practices associated with drug product storage, distribution, monitoring/controls, and documentation. They evaluated the readiness of both active and pending sites for cold chain operations by performing gap analyses and assessing the existing cold chain processes, including the qualification of refrigerators and freezers used to store investigational medical products for current and upcoming trials. Battista also assisted in training local Ebola response staff members on cold chain procedures, fundamentals of heat transfer important to temperature sensitive drug products, and qualification of the critical equipment at the sites.

Before joining Modality Solutions in 2016, Robert's chemical engineering experience and research included reclamation of energy from pollutant bodies of water, operating characteristics of fuel cells, the reaction kinetics of acetic anhydride, operating characteristics of a CO2 absorption column, and desalination of water through reverse osmosis. His research ranges from determining the statistical significance of trace heavy metal concentrations in a watershed in northern Peru to using chemical characteristics of water to determine the sourcing to a watershed in Great Basin National Park in northeastern Nevada.
Raised in West Seneca, New York, Battista attended The Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering with a minor in physical geography. In addition, he explored the fundamentals of sustainable engineering, cellular nanotechnology, molecular genetics, and principles of engineering law.
