ColdQuanta Wins Company of the Year Award
Boulder, Colorado (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- Last week, the University of Colorado Technology Transfer Office recognized ColdQuanta as Company of the Year at an awards ceremony co-hosted and sponsored by Faegre Baker Daniels LLC.
“ColdQuanta is commercializing some of the most innovative technology to come out of CU,” said Ted Weverka, a University of Colorado licensing manager. “The company has had consistent growth, with over 50% growth in the last two years, and is exporting its products worldwide, and soon to the space station for use in the coldest spot in the Universe.”
ColdQuanta develops and manufactures cold and ultracold atom producing devices and systems in Boulder. Co-founder Dana Anderson, a member of JILA (a joint institute of CU-Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology) and CTO of ColdQuanta, said, “Companies like ColdQuanta fill the gap between basic Science & Engineering and applications which can have substantial economic impact.” Anderson added, “The relationship between universities and small companies like ColdQuanta play an essential role in national technological competitiveness.”

Ultracold technology is being used in a wide range of research applications ranging from quantum computers, atomic clocks, magnetometry, and other precision instrumentation. One of ColdQuanta’s systems is to be placed at the heart of the Cold Atom Lab destined for the Space Station in 2016.
