EVERGREEN, Colo., Nov. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Expert executive coach and corporate leadership trainer Cheryl Benedict today announced "The Wisdom of Transition" has been selected for the esteemed SABA Book Awards "Long List" in the New Author category. A total of 14 authors from around the world qualify for the Long List. Winners are selected by either a panel of judges or attendees at the awards event. Both the Judges Award and Audience Award will be announced on December 5, 2020.
In her first published book, Benedict shares her proven model for navigating changes at work, which she has used for decades at large organizations in the United States and beyond. The model outlines the key stages of career transition experienced by professionals, and provides concrete strategies to help them navigate the stages of what can often be a stressful and unfamiliar change process - whether the change be related to job loss, career change, retirement or other shifts.
"I'm thrilled to have been selected for this award after writing my first book. After using this model to help individual executives for the last 30 years, I felt a deep desire and responsibility to share its principles on a larger scale and with more professionals," said Benedict. "Millions of Americans – and millions more globally - are experiencing career shifts like never before due to the pandemic. It is my sincere hope that 'The Wisdom of Transition' can help professionals everywhere navigate transitions with confidence, resourcefulness, and inner grace."
In the book, Benedict outlines three stages to the process of career transition: Entering Transition, The "In-Between" Zone, and Insights and Transformation. In each chapter and to reinforce the principles, she shares specific stories and anecdotes of past and current clients. Benedict outlines seven types of career changes including Transitioning to a New Leader, Transitioning into Deep Work, Transitioning into a new Role or Job, Transitioning When Losing a Promotion, Transitioning To and From Work, Transitioning into New Interactions, and Transitioning To and From Vacation.
Christopher Sherry, CEO and President of Merrick & Company, shared his experience in the book Foreword: "I feel deeply thankful that Cheryl Benedict, our leadership consultant and my executive coach for 11 years has written this important book on mastering transition at work. [Cheryl] was highly instrumental as I transitioned from one development role into the next, all in preparation for me to become COO, then President and now CEO." He continued, "I have employed many of the techniques introduced in this book, and can readily vouch for their effectiveness."
