Copper Run, a leading M&A advisory firm, has expanded to Cleveland to support rapid growth in demand for investment banking needs among middle-market companies. Copper Run’s new office is located in Independence.

The quickly growing firm has named Matthew Roberts as Vice President, leading northeast Ohio operations. Roberts, previously of MelCap Partners in Cleveland, will be responsible for sourcing and executing transactions with primarily middle-market companies, serving a variety of industries including manufacturing, business services, energy and healthcare.

“We are excited to have Matt join the Copper Run team,” said Andy Hays, the firm’s co-founder and President. “He will ensure Copper Run continues to serve the businesses of northeast Ohio, now with local operations to support growing deal flow with a level of partnership our clients have come to expect.”

Roberts most recently served as Vice President for MelCap, an independent investment banking firm. Prior to that, he held positions with China Centric Associates, Bowled Solutions Corporation, First Federal of Lakewood, Lytkowski & Company and Bank of New York Mellon.

Roberts earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University. Roberts holds FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses.

“My passion is helping companies grow through acquisition and assisting independent business owners in solidifying their legacy through a sale,” Roberts said. “I look forward to serving the thriving businesses of northeast Ohio, where there’s always been a strong M&A market.”

Copper Run’s professionals have more than $11 billion of transaction experience across the U.S. and believe the middle market continues to be underserved by investment banks. The firm has grown to more than 15 employees and recently expanded outside Columbus for the first time, opening an office in Cincinnati.
