LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Move over billion dollar streaming originals, Seed&Spark is entering the original content game focused on simple storytelling instead of fame and effects. Everything Is Fine, a feature-length stand-up comedy special and six docu-comedy episodes, will be available on the streaming service September 12.
"The market is already saturated for massive budget narrative originals — audiences are getting that, and like everything we do at Seed&Spark, we're looking to deliver where audiences aren't getting what they need or want," said Seed&Spark founder and CEO Emily Best. "Stand-up is an open market, where we can make big strides fast in highlighting fresh, diverse voices and giving audiences something different instead of more of the same."
Filmed live at Dynasty Typewriter in LA's historic Hayworth building, Everything Is Fine showcases the comedy of Lianna Carrera, Katrina Davis, Amelia Harris, Leah Rudick, Riley Silverman and host Heather Turman.
Directed by Xan Aranda (Room 104, Blue Jay) with a majority female crew (and all-woman camera team helmed by Eve Cohen), Everything Is Fine highlights difference voices and perspectives on the stage and behind the camera. It comes at a time when comedy (especially stand-up) continues to grapple with issues of representation and assault.
"I have always loved stand up comedy — it's one of the purest storytelling media. There have been hundreds of specials that are entirely male; this one happens to be all women. What's important is that they're all brilliant comedians, period." Best said.
The 68-minute special showcases all six comedians, while the episodes each focus on one comedian with interviews and personal footage that add depth to the humor and the person.
Everything Is Fine is available to stream exclusively on Seed&Spark starting September 12. Trailer and more info can be viewed at seedandspark.com/fine.
