Company Officer Academy Offers Leadership Training for Firefighters, Fire Officers
ORANGE BEACH, ALA. (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Firefighters and fire officers can improve their leadership skills with the Company Officer Academy March 3-5 at the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture Conference Facility in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Sponsored by Columbia Southern University (CSU) and co-hosted by the West Licking Joint Fire District in Pataskala, Ohio, the workshop features a dynamic program that addresses the many skills and abilities that company officers need to be effective in the firehouse and on the fire ground.
“What we do is provide the attendee with the knowledge and information to not just lead better, but to be a better company officer through real life and values-based leadership training,” said Rick Lasky, veteran fire chief and author who is also one of the instructors for the academy.
Joining Lasky will be John Salka, also a retired fire chief and author, to guide attendees through various concepts and discussions of some of the key issues in leading a firehouse. From performance evaluations to disciplining to mentoring, the academy covers a broad range of topics to help fire officers become effective leaders.
