The session will be moderated by Eliot Siegel, M.D., RadSite Chair, Standards Committee, and will feature the following speakers:

"It is interesting to compare the technology between a traditional CT system, where the patient must be moved through the fan beam of x-rays as it rotates around the patient multiple times, to a Cone Beam CT system, which uses a large-area detector to image an extended volume of the patient in a single rotation," observes Dr. Yorkston. "Cone Beam CT imaging techniques significantly reduce the complexity by removing the need for 'slip ring' technology that is essential for traditional CT systems."
"Cone Beam CT imaging has become a centerpiece for otolaryngology specialty care," notes David Luick. "By allowing medical professionals to conveniently image fields of study covering the ears, nose, and throat, the provider can conveniently access a high resolution image at a lower dose that conventional CT exams. Cone Beam CT images can be used for both diagnosis and in the aid of treatment. A good example is image-guided sinus surgery."

All three speakers serve on RadSite's Cone Beam CT Standards Committee, which has been meeting for two years. RadSite anticipates the release of its new Cone Beam CT MIPPA Accreditation Program this summer, which features specialty standards for both dental and medical imaging providers.
