Conference Planners: It's Time to Weigh-In on the Future of Conference Content
For the sixth year, Omnipress is collecting data through an online survey of conference planners and association professionals to better understand trends surrounding conference content, including how attendees want to receive content, how associations provide it, and what changes lie ahead as attendee demographics and preferences change.
MADISON, Wis., Nov. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Omnipress, provider of print and digital content solutions for associations and other organizations, publishes its well-known State of the Conference Industry Report using data compiled from an online survey of association professionals, a majority of whom are primarily responsible for conference planning. The goal of the report is to provide peer-to-peer benchmarking as well as ideas and trends associations can use in strategic planning sessions.
"In 2018, we saw some significant shifts in how associations were using their educational content," says Omnipress' General Manager, Jonny Popp. "During the previous year, associations figured out how to break down some of their internal silos to really leverage the investment made in their conference's educational content." As the 2018 report indicates, more organizations started using their conference content not only to promote their events, but to reinforce learning after the conference and attract new members to the association.
2018 was also a year when balancing the needs of a diverse and multi-generational audience became a greater pain point, as a higher percentage of respondents listed "Offering a mix of formats to meet the needs of all members" as one of their top challenges. States Popp, "With so many more content delivery options available—including on-demand and streaming services, attendees are starting to expect accessible in whichever format is most convenient for them at that particular moment in time." This preference for device-agnostic content can lead to some tough decisions for associations.
What insights will be gained in 2019? Conference planners and association professionals are encouraged to contribute to next year's report by completing a 5 to 10-minute confidential online survey. The results will be featured in Omnipress' 2019 State of the Industry Report, to be published in late January.
