When we look deeply into most of the problems that worry us, we realize that their causes and solutions are found in our connection to ourselves. –Ilchi Lee

“There are more than two billion Facebook users worldwide with approximately 300 friends per user, but loneliness has surfaced as a greater public health risk than smoking.” This is one of the many personal and societal issues New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned meditation expert Ilchi Lee addresses in his new book, "CONNECT: How to Find Clarity and Expand Your Consciousness with Pineal Gland Meditation."
He says money troubles, health issues, relationship turmoil, and any of life’s many everyday challenges stem from the same root. “Dig deeper, and you’ll ultimately find that the primary cause of your problems lies not in your relationship with other people or in some imperfection in the environment, but rather in your connection with yourself.” This simple discovery offers a simple solution: connect to the inner self.
Lee’s take on forming a deeper and more authentic connection to oneself is to first connect to the body through mindful physical exercises. The next step is to connect to the soul with meditations based on the energy principles of an ancient Korean tradition. The final step is to connect with one's divine nature, a creative energy found in the brain, with visualization techniques.
When awareness is directed to all three of these aspects of self, individuals can experience the true connection and oneness spoken of in many meditation and spiritual traditions. Lee writes, “It’s about focusing inside the body, discovering your true self, and growing into your higher self.”
As a result of this connection, Lee writes, the “ability to regulate your emotions grows, as do your insight, intuition, foresight, judgment, tolerance, and creativity.” However, Ilchi Lee believes the most important powers heightened are “insight, creativity, and the drive and ability to get things done.” The combination of these powers increases problem-solving ability Lee asserts.
Ilchi Lee’s method for doing this, which he describes in detail with full-color illustrations, is Pineal Gland Meditation. Through several simple steps, this form of meditation quiets distracting thoughts and emotions and activates the creative aspect of the brain via the pineal gland.
Why the pineal gland? While biologically the pineal gland is a small gland in the center of the brain that secretes melatonin, metaphysically, the pineal gland has symbolized seeing through illusion, elevated spirit, and ultimate knowledge in many esoteric traditions. It is also known as the “third eye.” In his experience, Ilchi Lee has found that meditation on the pineal gland is most effective for growing awareness of one's inner workings as well as for enhancing natural intuition and creative ability.
The inspirational style of Ilchi Lee’s writing encourages readers to take up the meditation and use their mental and emotional clarity and action power to solve problems in their families and communities in addition to their own. He writes that his methods can be used by meditation beginners and experts alike and includes ways of doing them when short on time.
"CONNECT" is already available for pre-order online, and will be released on July 15, 2019 in paperback, ebook, and audiobook editions.
