Each nursing home receives a quality rating of between 1 and 5 stars; 5-star ratings are considered to have "much above average quality," and 1-star ratings are considered below average. Health Inspections are gathered by trained, objective inspectors who go onsite to the nursing home to determine if a nursing home has met Medicaid and Medicare's minimum quality requirements. Quality Measures (QMs) focuses on 16 different physical and clinical elements for nursing home residents; basically, QMs rate the level of physical and clinical care a nursing home provides their residents.
