Centaur Lab's "Collective Data Labeling" is enabling Consensus' AI-powered scientific search engine to deploy state of the art machine learning to more accurately surface research findings for users.
BOSTON, Aug. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Consensus, a new AI-powered scientific search engine, today announced a partnership with Centaur Labs, a collective intelligence based data labeling company focused on unblocking AI development research focused spaces.
Consensus' ad-free search engine uses artificial intelligence to instantly surface findings from scientific research. In order for this state-of-the-art machine learning system to effectively analyze and extract information from scientific literature, Consensus needed massive datasets of scientific papers annotated by scientists and doctors.
Consensus and Centaur Labs first collaborated on a massive project to generate these annotated datasets, so Consensus could train, test and validate its algorithms. Consensus leveraged Centaur Labs to generate high quality and scalable scientific data labels.
In just two weeks of working together, Centaur Labs delivered 100,000 unique and high quality expert labels, and was able to accommodate all of Consensus' data-labeling needs.
After the success of this project, it was clear that bringing together the high quality and scalable scientific data labeling capabilities of Centaur Labs, with the machine learning expertise of Consensus, would enable Consensus to more quickly achieve their model performance goals, and get to market faster.
"Because of Centaur Labs unique data labeling solution, that not only provides the software to complete labeling tasks, but also provides a network of experts (i.e. scientists and doctors) to actually complete the annotations, it was a no-brainer to work together," stated Consensus CEO Eric Olson.
"All we had to do was draft up the requirements for the labeling task, and all of our annotation needs were taken care of. From sourcing the labelers to quality checking labels, Centaur Labs provides support and optimizes for the entire annotation life cycle. "
Moving forward, the companies expect that continued collaboration will assure the most accurate results possible for Consensus searchers.
"We're excited to partner with teams on the cutting edge of healthcare and AI, who are leveraging scientific datasets in unique ways to bring innovative solutions to market," says Erik Duhaime, co-founder and CEO of Centaur Labs. "Eric and the team at Consensus have the data-centric perspective you need to successfully develop performant AI, and we're thrilled to support them both as they move to general availability, ongoingly, and as Consensus users ourselves."
