Construction Business Owner Magazine developed the Sustainability VIP honor as a format to help identify and highlight the industry's foremost leaders of sustainable practices and programs.

CBO developed the Sustainability VIP honor as a format to help identify and highlight the industry's foremost leaders of sustainable practices and programs. CBO's Sustainability VIP honor is powered by nominations from professionals throughout the industry that will showcase the expertise of eligible nominees, which include male and female contractors from both commercial and residential contracting and subcontracting.
Nominees must have developed, launched or led programs or initiatives within their respective companies to support any of the following areas of sustainability:
- Industry and infrastructure
- Clean energy, water and sanitation
- Recycling and responsible consumption and production
- Protection of climate, wildlife and waterways
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Green building and LEED efforts
- Humanitarian efforts (poverty, hunger, equality, health, wellness, education, employment)

After all nominations have been considered, the program will conclude with 10 finalists to be featured in CBO's August 2021 print magazine and on constructionbusinessowner.com.
