Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, today announces that the winners of the 2023 Microsoft Office Specialist and Adobe Certified Professional National Championships from over 40 countries will start arriving this weekend to attend the World Championships in Orlando, Florida, USA from July 30 to August 2, 2023.
Over 180 national gold winners from around the world will compete to be crowned the Microsoft Office Specialist and Adobe Certified Professional World Champions. Some of the competitors, excited to attend the competition at the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa, shared their thoughts:
Nwokeji Fenna Crescentia from Nigeria, who will be participating in the Microsoft Excel (Office 2019 or Microsoft 365 Apps) category, shares that she is excited to be coming to the competition: "I'm looking forward to meeting other students with the same level of skill in their respective categories as well as the opportunity to represent my country in my category."
Ryanna Law from Canada, who will be competing in PowerPoint®, says that she is looking forward to seeing how her skills have improved since the Canadian National Championship. At the prospect of visiting Disney World, she says, "I'm excited to look around Disney Springs and World, and to look at the Orlando scenery since I haven't been there since I was younger."
Jamie Kildea from the UK and Ireland will be competing in Excel® (Office 2019 or Microsoft 365 Apps) and says that he is looking forward to the atmosphere and environment at the event. He states, "It brings so many different cultures together and it'd be very interesting to see how everyone ends up interacting with each other. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the country is like; it's especially different to Ireland and other countries I've been to like England and Wales. It's going to be a unique experience for me, for sure."
Sofia Hernandez will be representing Mexico in the in Microsoft PowerPoint® (Office 2019 or Microsoft 365 Apps) category. When asked on what she was most looking forward to, she said, "Obviously we are all having the desire of winning a position, but despite that, I also want to make a lot of long-lasting friendships, learn from the other competitors, have a nice time, and create memories I will never forget. "
"This year marks 21 years since the Microsoft Office Specialist competition began in 2002, and 10 years since the Adobe Certified Professional World Championship was introduced in 2013. For the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, entrants in the Microsoft Office Specialist Word, Microsoft Office Specialist Excel®, and Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint® categories will be given 100 minutes to use a dataset to create a business deliverable for a real-world client. They will then be scored according to accuracy, technique, and time. First-place winners will receive an $8,000 USD cash prize, with second and third-place winners earning $4,000 USD and $2,000 USD, respectively.
Entrants in the Adobe Certified Professional World Championship will have eight hours to create a design project for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which will also help judge the competition. First-place winners will receive an $8,000 USD cash prize, with second and third-place winners earning $4,000 USD and $2,000 USD, respectively.
