Copyright & New Media Law Gets New Publisher
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 16, 2014 -- Digital Information Law has acquired the respected journal The Copyright & New Media Law Newsletter from its original owner, Copyrightlaws.com, both companies announced earlier this month. Copyright expert Gretchen McCord succeeds Lesley Ellen Harris, the Newsletter’s creator, as editor.

The Copyright & New Media Law Newsletter has been published continuously since 1997. Each issue of the quarterly publication provides explanations and analyses of current issues in copyright and related areas of law by leading experts (lawyers and other copyright and licensing professionals.) The Newsletter addresses international law and legal issues as well as those of the United States and Canada.
“Readers appreciate having one central source of vetted information about important copyright issues and other issues relevant to new and developing media,” says Ms. Harris. “Our goal has always been to explain the complex areas of copyright, licensing, and other legal issues relevant to developing media in plain English for both lawyers and nonlawyers.”
Ms. McCord says that as a reader of the journal in past years, she has “greatly valued it for explaining often complex issues in plain English that even non-lawyers can understand.” Continuing that approach will be one of her most important goals as editor.
Ms. McCord also plans to continue the original focus of providing information important to both users and creators/owners of works protected by copyright.
“The digital information world is evolving so quickly right now, we need all the tools we can get to guide us in the right direction,” Ms. McCord says. “The need to understand copyright and other laws that apply to new media is equally great for creators/owners and information users.”
For her part, Ms. Harris is delighted that she is leaving the Newsletter in such capable hands. She notes that she and Ms. McCord share a passion for helping others understand legal issues in the information world. “I am confident that Gretchen will provide accessible U.S., Canadian, and international content for the Newsletter in an energetic and creative manner,” says Ms. Harris.
