NEW YORK, April 13, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Early education leader Corlears School announced today it is holding later this week a free, online event to combat racism: "Raising Our Babies to Value Anti-Racism," designed for current and prospective parents of children aged 1-5.
The Zoom event, to feature a presentation by Mansi Vasa, Director of Equity, Inclusion and Community Life, with Benna Cheung, Head 3s Teacher, will be held Thursday, April 15, 12:30-1:30pm ET.
Zoom information will be provided the morning of the event on the Corlears website.
"Join us to learn how identity develops in early childhood and how to raise families that value anti-racism," said Corlears Head of School David Egolf. "As we all strive towards a more inclusive society, now is the time to examine the causes of systemic racism and how we as parents, guardians and educators have the opportunity to raise our children to be agents of change for anti-racism."
"We are embracing anti-racism as a core value of Corlears," said Vasa. "This event will examine how our Early Childhood teachers are unpacking Ibram X Kendi's board book: 'Anti-Racist Baby' and how they are curating classrooms and curriculum with an anti-racist lens. Participants will walk away with Corlears' top five racial equity strategies towards embracing anti-racism as a family value."
About Corlears School
Founded in 1968, Corlears School is one of the few schools in New York City that focuses exclusively on the early years of education (age 2-5th grade) — and we always have. In our five decades of experience, we've come to understand that these early years are the most crucial formative years for every child. They set a foundation of learning and confidence for everything to come. We specialize in guiding this impressionable age group, because the start of your child's academic life should be nothing short of exceptional.
Corlears is a private, neighborhood school for the entire city that offers a solid academic foundation and a vibrant, inclusive community for curious young minds ages 2-10.
