With the holiday season fast approaching, Corra Group helps businesses by offering a full range of background checks for screening temporary workers.

"No matter if you are online vendors or a brick and mortar merchant, it is prudent to have an employment screening program in place, even for temporary holiday workers," said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson.

Corra Group is preparing for the holiday season hiring rush as merchants get ready for the heavy shopping volume. The El Segundo, California headquarter background checking services offers a full range of background checks to accommodate the brick and mortar merchants as well the online shopping sites.

“Corra Group recognizes the seismic shift in online shopping,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. No matter if you are online vendors or a brick and mortar merchant, it is prudent to have an employment screening program in place, even for temporary holiday workers.

“In the case of bother retail venues, aside from the criminal background checks, it is often prudent to conduct motor vehicle driving records, as more drivers will be hired to deliver the merchandise,” said Gustavson. “For the past several years, Corra Group has witnessed a surge in the need for truck drivers and even non-commercial drivers running shorter delivery routes.”

Gustavson pointed out that the recommended basic suite of searches includes the social security trace, to determine where a candidate has lived for the past seven years, the county criminal records search based on the counties recorded in the social security trace. He noted the third search is a national database search, which has its limitations but gives a wider scan for possible criminal records. He added the national criminal database search also includes the sex offender registry.

“For those companies who will be utilizing temporary drivers, we strongly recommend the MVR,” said Gustavson. “The last thing a business needs is someone driving around with a suspended license. The liability issues can be enormous.

“And then there is the issue of the in-store Santa Claus,” said Gustavson. “A business should check carefully for any criminal records. The sexual offenders registry becomes essential, since children are involved. For that matter, any employee with proximity to children should be carefully scrutinized.”

BACKGROUND: Corra Group is a full service employment screening company that offers the full range of background checks and business research to industries throughout the United States and around the world.
