Corra Group offers PSP reports, which helps trucking and transportation companies best evaluate the safety records of new commercial drivers.

“Corra Group offers volume MVR discounts to larger companies,” said Nick Gustavson. “We are a business to business company and will only provide driving records and background checks to any employer in need of employment screening."

Corra Group is providing Pre-Employment Screening, or PSP Driver Safety Reports, to Trucking Companies for their commercial drivers. PSP Reports are issued through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and details the safety records for any driver holding a commercial driver’s license.

According to information posted on the FMCSA website, “PSP helps carriers make more informed hiring decisions by providing secure, electronic access to a commercial driver’s five-year crash and three-year inspection history from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS).

“PSP reports can help trucking and transportation companies best assess their new driving applicants,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. According to the FMCSA, having knowledge of a driver’s safety record, through PSP reporting, can lower the accident rate by around eight percent, and out of service time by about 17%. This is substantial when a trucking company is depending on its drivers to carry a load from Point A to Point B, without any incident.

“To be Department of Transportation Compliant, trucking companies must run the motor vehicle driving record on new drivers,” said Gustavson. “Employers must run MVRS on all drivers, annually. While the MVR is mandated by the DOT for compliance purposes, the PSP is not necessarily required. But many of our trucking clients have found it is a good companion piece to be run, initially with the MVR. Employers have a better overview on their potential hires.

Gustavson pointed out that Corra Group offers MVR Reports in every state in the Union, most of Canada, and Puerto Rico. Depending on the state, he noted, turnaround times can range from less than a minute to several days, or in the case of Pennsylvania, it can take two to three weeks.

“Corra Group offers volume MVR discounts to larger companies,” said Gustavson. “We are a business to business company and will only provide driving records to any employer in need of these reports on either current employers or job applicants. We have a full range of background checks that we provide to trucking and transportation companies, and we can create our standard trucking employment screen package or customize a package according to a client’s requirements.

“Good drivers are hard to come by,” said Gustavson. “Which is why we recommend the PSP report, so trucking companies know just what quality of driver they may be hiring.”
