Couple Celebrates Wedding Anniversary in a Very Unique Way
Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- Steve Yoho of Long Beach, California and his wife, Nancy, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in a unique way – a Baseball Road Trip hosted by Sports Travel and Tours of Hatfield, Massachusetts. Traveling with Steve and Nancy were good friends Teri Denhart and Dave Beard from San Diego.
These LA Angels fans enjoyed major league games in six different ballparks, stadium tours of Camden Yards and Yankee Stadium, the Babe Ruth Birthplace, the Sports Legend Museum, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, along with city tours and historic sites.
Lifelong baseball fans, Steve and Nancy didn’t even know such a trip existed until a few months before they signed up with Sports Travel and Tours. “The great thing about this trip was we didn’t have to do anything – we just packed and went.”
While each of the baseball games were a highlight of the trip, Steve enjoyed the baseball “enrichments” that he wouldn’t have planned on his own, such as the Babe Ruth Birthplace and the stadium tours, including the Yankee Stadium Monument Park between the bullpens. Steve says, “When you go in the back of the stadium, you feel as though you’re in the game itself.”
Steve’s favorite ballpark to visit was the historic Fenway Park with its “Green Monster” and the different foods the couple could enjoy at each different park.
Although the couple had been to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum previously, they preferred their experience this time, which occurred on their actual anniversary day. “We didn’t feel rushed, trying to see everything in the short amount of time we did before,” said Steve. “On this trip, we took our time enjoying the Nolan Ryan exhibit, the many plaques, and the Abbott and Costello ‘Who’s on First?’ exhibit twice.”
Steve grew up in Long Beach, and attended 20 games or more a year with his brother and dad, a Dodger’s fan, who would get tickets from work, pick up his sons, and then drive to the ballpark in Los Angeles that evening for a game. Steve would collect the baseball cards of players he had seen during these games every summer and, as a child, would work out the stats of the players on the cards, which eventually led him to his career in Analytical Analysis. While Steve’s own son was growing up, he coached his baseball team at Long Beach Little League Park, and continued attending baseball games often.
Steve proudly states that, “this is the best trip if you are a baseball fan. Our goal is to go on a couple more.”
