Craft Cocktail Competition Celebrates Home and Family Traditions
Azunia Tequila, in partnership with USBG SoCal Chapter, seeks eight of the best bartenders in Southern California to participate in the "Home is Where the Heart Is" Bartending Competition.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- What's your taste of home? Some flavors instinctively bring us back to our roots, providing a connection to tradition while also helping us share our stories with others.
Azuñia Tequila, an estate-grown and family-produced craft tequila that prizes authentic flavor and exceptional taste, wants to know what the flavor of home is to local bartenders. They're teaming up with the USBG SoCal Chapter to seek eight of the area's best bartenders to participate in the "Home is Where the Heart Is" Bartending Competition.
"We all have traditions based in our families and our hometowns, and for people who work in the food and beverage industry, the ingredients that taste like home are an important part of our craft," said Kailee Asher, Sales Manager, and Mixologist for Azuñia Tequila. "Bartenders tell stories with their cocktail creations, and we think there's no better time than the holidays to celebrate stories of tradition and family through festive drinks made with ingredients held close to the heart."
The live competition will be held on Dec. 10 at Mi Corazon, Southern California's best destination for authentic and organic Mexican food, with the competitors creating unique cocktails that reflect their roots, home, and traditions. A panel of industry experts will judge the entries based on visual appeal, creativity, and taste. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize and the opportunity to show off their craft to thousands of cocktail aficionados through Saloonbox and Licensed to Distill, plus a numbered and signed bottle of Azuñia Black, the distillery's private reserve Añejo.
Active bartenders from Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego interested in competing in the Dec. 10 event should share the recipe and a paragraph outlining their cocktail's inspiration and why the ingredients represent the "Home is Where the Heart Is" theme. The deadline to submit an entry is Nov. 12. Eight finalists will be chosen by Azuñia and USBG from the entry forms submitted online and announced on Nov. 26.
The unique cocktail should include no more than seven ingredients and must include at least one ounce of Azuñia Tequila. Bartenders are welcome to include house-made ingredients, but must be able to provide the method for duplication. To be chosen, you must be available to participate in the live competition from 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 10 in Los Angeles. About Azuñia Tequila*
Azuñia is smooth, clean craft tequila with authentic flavor from the local terroir in every sip. It is the exclusive export of Agaveros Unidos de Amatitán and its second-generation, family-owned-and-operated Rancho Miravalle estate, which has created exceptional tequila for over 20 years. Made with 100% pure Weber Blue Agave grown in dedicated fields of the Tequila valleys, we harvest by hand and roast the organic agave in traditional clay hornos to ensure authenticity and depth of flavor. We then finish with a natural, open-air fermentation process and bottle onsite in small batches using a consistent process to deliver field-to-bottle quality.
