Phoenix-based Polyient Labs - an early-stage startup incubator focused on launching blockchain-adjacent businesses - is excited to welcome Craig Russo to Polyient as its new Director of Innovation.

Russo, co-founder of SludgeFeed, brings with him more than five years of experience in startups, cryptocurrencies, gaming, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and other blockchain-related projects.

It is Russo’s in-depth knowledge of NFTs and the crypto-gaming landscape that makes him an important addition to the Polyient team.

According to Forbes, the NFT market is poised to reach $200 billion in value. Russo’s extensive experience with non-fungible tokens ensures Polyient’s incubation lab can fully assist startups focused on digital collectables and other emerging digital asset classes.

"Some investors continue to associate NFTs with cryptocurrencies,” says Russo. “But NFTs are a completely different blockchain-based asset class. Individual cryptocurrencies can be interchangeable, but each NFT is unique in its makeup and value. This makes them especially attractive in gaming and digital art realms and - thanks to the popularity of CryptoKitties, Gods Unchained and Super Rare - investors and gamers now fully recognize their power and potential."

“Craig is one of today’s top authorities on blockchain gaming and NFT economics,” says Brad Robertson, CEO and Founder of Polyient. “With Polyient extending its reach into a larger variety of crypto-art and blockchain-gaming projects, our portfolio clients will benefit from his insights and industry reputation.”

Russo has authored more than 3,000 articles on blockchain, gaming, esports, investing, crypto and NFTs for SludgeFeed. He also worked with PureTech Ventures, where he was instrumental in helping build biotech startups such as Karuna Therapeutics and Follica. Russo earned top biotechnology innovator honors from Xconomy in 2017 and worked in several leading neuroscience labs at Harvard University.
