Cranberry Fest celebrates 40th Anniversary in Eagle River this weekend

EAGLE RIVER, Wis., Oct. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Wisconsin's largest fruit crop export is the big headliner at the 40th annual Cranberry Fest in Eagle River this October. More than 40,000 visitors partake in tasting cranberry-inspired foods, drinks and activities at the Vilas County Fairgrounds at the event.

Cranberry Fest runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 5 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 6.

There's going to be approximately 10,000 pounds of cranberries sold during the event. They'll be made into an array of delicious food and drink items such as juice, soda, beer, wine, meatballs, fritters, pies, breads, chutney and more. Cookbooks will be available to eat and drink cranberries in new and fun ways.

Hosted by the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, additional family-friendly activities include:

• Join us for a tour of a cranberry marsh and wine tasting. Reservations are requested and tours leave from the Eagle Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 201 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River starting Thursday, October 3 and go through Sunday, October 6. Tours are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Please note that pets are not allowed at the Vilas County Fairgrounds. Please leave your pets at home - not only for the safety of the public, but most of all for the safety of your pet.

In addition to festivities on the festival grounds, there's an assortment of activities located in downtown Eagle River on Saturday. A free shuttle bus will be available on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to take you throughout Eagle River to all the different activities. Shuttle busses run approximately every 20 to 30 minutes.

• Activities Downtown (Saturday only) include an antique market, farmers market, fresh cranberry and Craisin sales, Lake Country Weaver and Fiber Artists show and sale, hot food and beverages, and a luncheon at the First Congregational Church.
