Crimson Cup Coffee Houses are the best local coffee shops in Columbus, according to voters in the city’s largest reader poll.

The Columbus Dispatch announced the award at its 2019 CBUS Top Picks ceremony Wednesday, December 11.

Crimson Cup Coffee Houses were the #1 CBUS Top Pick in the Local Coffee Shop category.

Award-winning coffee roaster Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea owns the shops at 4541 North High St. in Clintonville and 2468 Northwest Boulevard in Upper Arlington.

“We’re thrilled that so many Columbus coffee lovers showed their love for Crimson Cup,” said Founder and President Greg Ubert.

“Our coffee houses serve exceptional coffees that showcase the hard work of local coffee farmers,” he added. “Our cuppers travel 80,000 miles per year to buy coffee directly from local farmers through our Friend2Farmer initiative.”

Hill said farming relationships help Crimson Cup stand out in the Columbus coffee market..

“We are proud to share stories of our relationships with farmers with customers, who enjoy learning how they are supporting something bigger,” he said.

Crimson Cup coffee ranks among the best in the nation. In September, the roaster won the 2019 Championship for Small Franchise/Chain roaster at Golden Bean North America – the nation’s largest coffee roasting competition.

In 2016, it was Roast magazine’s Macro Roaster of the Year. Its Ethiopian Kossa Kebena coffee is a finalist for a 2020 Good Food Award.

In the 2019 Dispatch CBUS Top Picks, local residents cast 409,632 votes in 152 categories. The Columbus Dispatch will publish a list of winners on Friday, December 20.
