Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- Cross Campus, Southern California’s leading provider of collaborative, on-demand workspaces and business event venues, today announces that it has acquired The Writers Junction, a Santa Monica-based coworking space dedicated to serving the needs of writers. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition of The Writers Junction, located directly across the street from the current Cross Campus location at Colorado Avenue & 10th Street, will add over 6,000 square feet to the company’s footprint—bringing its total footprint in Santa Monica to roughly 20,000 square feet.
The Writers Junction space will add more private offices to Cross Campus’ inventory, as well as shared workspace that will be a warmer, quieter alternative to the more vibrant main campus across the street. “Our goal is to have enough space for our Members to grow, and to provide multiple, differentiated work environments that satisfy a variety of work modes and preferences,” said Cross Campus co-founder and CEO Ronen Olshansky.
The expansion comes at a time when Cross Campus is seeing strong demand for flexible workspace solutions—particularly serviced, private offices geared to smaller-growth companies. The acquisition comes on the heels of the opening earlier this year of Cross Campus’ 20,000 square foot Pasadena location.
Cross Campus plans to add at least another two locations in the greater Los Angeles region this year—one of which will be in Downtown LA.
“From right across the street, we’ve watched the fantastic job that Eileen and Jay have done fostering a dynamic community of writers,” said Cross Campus COO & co-founder Dan Dato. Dato added, “And with the continued convergence of content across platforms, we’re excited to integrate this community of writers into our broader community of technology and creative professionals.”
“Since Cross Campus opened we’ve admired Ronen and Dan’s vision for co-working and are excited about what they will do with the resources they bring to bear,” said Eileen Funke, co-founder of The Writers Junction. “We’re enthusiastic about the ways Cross Campus will provide for our membership including ample opportunity for cross-pollination as our memberships come together.”
Since 2010, The Writers Junction has served as the premiere workspace for writers in Los Angeles. Serving hundreds of writers across every genre from film, television, fiction, and poetry to academic, nonfiction, technical, and new media, The Writers Junction has provided a uniquely productive home for its vibrant community of creatives. The Writers Junction also made its mark with a steady stream of informative classes and events designed to support the larger writing community.
As of July 1, 2015 the former Writers Junction space at 1001 Colorado Ave will be opening as the Cross Campus Santa Monica Annex, with additional private offices and dedicated desks immediately available.
