Crowley’s Zeutschel Scanners Receive Gold, Silver in 2015 Inaugural Modern Library Awards from Library Resources Group

(PRWEB) January 23, 2015 -- The Crowley Company, a worldwide leader in digital and analog scanning and capture solutions and services, is pleased to announce it has received gold and silver awards from the LibraryWorks, Inc. 2015 inaugural Modern Library Awards (MLA’s.) The MLA’s were created to recognize the top products in the library industry in a truly unbiased format. Products were submitted in the fall via a simple application and were then posted to a private site with an enhanced description and attendant materials. These products were batched into small groups and sent to the LibraryWorks database of more than 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic and special libraries. Only customers who had experience with these products in their facilities were permitted to judge the products, lending toward an unbiased score.
Each judge scored the product on a numeric basis from 1-10, with 10 high. Only products scoring above 6.5 were issued awards based on a scoring level.

The Zeutschel OS 14000 was originally engineered to meet a U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) request for proposal. At the time, a scanner which met both new NARA guidelines and the tenets of the proposal did not exist. At Crowley’s urging, Zeutschel designed the 14000-series to meet rigid standards for color-quality output from a line-scan camera with unheralded image quality and speed. Today, the next generation of OS 14000 scanners has found its way into libraries that host special collections and which seek to both preserve the original materials electronically and to give greater access to these materials via the internet.
