JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (PRWEB) July 16, 2019
Crowley Maritime Corp. has promoted Peter Sutton to vice president of health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) and operations integrity for the company’s Shipping business unit. He will lead activities supporting Crowley’s industry-leading commitment to safe and reliable transportation and environmental stewardship throughout its fleet.
“Peter’s dedication and leadership will continue our commitment to safe and reliable operations and provide value and confidence for customers and mariners alike,” said Rob Grune, senior vice president and general manager, Crowley Shipping.
Sutton, who will continue to be based in Jacksonville, Fla., joined Crowley in 2015 as manager of health and safety for the company’s petroleum services group. He advanced to director of health and safety in 2016, and then became managing director of health, safety, security, quality and environment (HSSQE) in 2018 – a position he has held until this latest promotion.
Prior to joining Crowley, Sutton was a HSSE manager for Horizon Lines and a fleet security auditor for Royal Caribbean Cruises International. After serving in the Royal Australian Navy from 1990 to 1994, he was an officer in the New South Wales (Australia) Police Department for nearly a decade. He earned a degree in law enforcement from Charles Sturt University.
Sutton replaces Steve Demeroutis, who recently retired as vice president after a long career with Crowley.
