WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (PRWEB) October 10, 2019
Crowne Plaza White Plains was pleased to recently host students from Westchester Community College as part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Academy program. Established in 2006 in China, IHG Academy works with educational and community organizations to offer skill development and employment opportunities to those seeking a career in the hospitality industry.
“We are thrilled to partner with Westchester Community College to provide real-world experience for local students, which in turn creates more sustainable communities,” said Monika Henry, general manager, Crowne Plaza White Plains.
As part of the Academy, Crowne Plaza recently hosted 18 college students from Westchester Community College’s Hospitality program to familiarize them with hotel operations and tour the facility. Besides a formal presentation, the students met with various departments, including banquet and catering, guest relations and event planning.
Crowne Plaza White Plains’ commitment to the program has afforded jobs to many college graduates, including Owen Barton. Owen graduated IHG Academy in April and secured a full-time position. For Owen, his internship experience at Crowne Plaza was the start of a long and successful career in hospitality – and IHG.
The Crowne Plaza is located at 66 Hale Avenue in White Plains, N.Y., and can be reached at 914-682-0050 or by visiting http://www.cpwestchester.com.
