The scholarship recognizes a philanthropic student of the First Coast.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CSI Companies is pleased to announce its 2022 Guy Cuddihee Memorial Scholarship recipient as Samantha Clay from Samuel W. Wolfson High School.
CSI created the memorial scholarship in 2020, one year after Guy Cuddihee passed away at 60 years old. Cuddihee was a well-known humanitarian across Jacksonville and raised millions for local charities. His numerous volunteer leadership and board member commitments included JAXUSA, North Florida School of Special Education, San Marco Rotary, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more.
Prior to becoming CEO of Beaches Habitat for Humanity, Cuddihee spent more than 20 years in leadership roles, including CSI Companies, which he joined as the Director of Business Development in 2013.
The Guy Cuddihee Memorial Scholarships aims to mirror Cuddihee's efforts by providing a local high school student with $5,000 who goes above and beyond in the community.
The 2022 winner, Samantha Clay, spent over 100 hours of community service working with the Brooks Rehab Adaptive Sports and Recreation program, beach cleanups, and volunteering with the drama program. She hopes to one day open her own non-profit clinic to benefit female human trafficking victims, focusing on mental health. Clay will attend the University of Northern Florida to study clinical psychology in the fall.
Deborah Valentine, one of CSI's scholarship committee members, said, "Samantha embodies Guy's selflessness, humor, and kindness towards others."
To qualify for the Guy Cuddihee Memorial Scholarship applicants must be a senior from Samuel W. Wolfson High School (where Cuddihee graduated in 1977), maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, have a minimum of 100 community service hours, and plan to enroll in a 2 or 4-year accredited institution.
