CT Business Matchmaker to Have a Manufacturing and Construction Focus in 2018
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) May 21, 2018 -- The skilled labor and technology “skills gap” has left many manufacturers and construction companies without the workers they need to meet increasing demands. One solution is to hire contractors and other project-based employees, but finding the right people to fill those roles is just as important—and sometimes just as difficult. The University of Hartford Entrepreneurial Center’s annual CT Business Matchmaker event will help area companies address that problem by focusing on the manufacturing and construction industries this year.
CT Business Matchmaker pairs small, established businesses, contractors, and service providers with “Primes”—large and medium-sized companies, municipalities, and other hiring entities who are actively interested in increasing and diversifying their supplier lists. With this year’s emphasis on the manufacturing and construction sectors, Primes can expect to be connected with experienced contractors who can fill a range of roles from skilled labor to operations consulting. The ninth annual event, managed by the Entrepreneurial Center, will be held on the campus of the University of Hartford in June, and registration for Primes is open now.
“The CT Business Matchmaker is our favorite event of the year," according to Bethel Hairston of Skanska USA Building. "It allows us to meet with small businesses that we normally would miss. We are grateful to attend and sponsor an event that helps open the door for so many small businesses in Connecticut.”
Giving opportunities to local, small businesses is a driving priority for Michael Jefferson at The Metropolitan District (MDC), another Prime attendee. “Through the CT Business Matchmaker, we accomplished our goal of reaching out to new subcontractors and providing economic opportunities to local businesses.” He appreciates the presence of resource partners in the Matchmaker event. “They help get the small businesses ready for the opportunities we put out to bid. I like to network with those agencies as well so I know what resources are available to support the success of our vendors. The MDC is committed to this process that helps build opportunities for small businesses.”
CT Business Matchmaker 2018 will be held from 7:00 am until 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 14, on the campus of the University of Hartford. Prime registration is now open, and as space will be limited, companies need to confirm their participation as soon as possible. Signing up early will also allow Primes to take full advantage of the promotional opportunities associated with CT Business Matchmaker. There is no charge for Primes to participate.
This event will offer an invaluable opportunity for companies to interview and vet contractors and expand their contracting relationships. During CT Business Matchmaker, small businesses will present their products and services to hiring companies in a series of ten-minute, one-on-one interviews.
