As New York enters Phase 2 in its reopening plan, Curogram, the leading HIPAA-compliant patient-centric telemedicine and messaging platform and CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), an emergency relief non-profit organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee, announced their partnership with the City of New York to expand free COVID-19 testing to underserved residents with the opening of new mobile testing sites in the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens as part of the “Test and Trace” program.

“Enabling simple communications with patients is our core expertise,” said Michael Hsu, COO at Curogram. “We are grateful to be in a unique position to play a vital role in helping support local communities and the healthcare industry in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our expanded relationship with CORE, we look forward to helping them streamline testing and increase testing capacity in New York City.”

“While New York is beginning to reopen, COVID-19 is still a top priority for state and local officials, and it is vital that testing be provided to vulnerable communities who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, especially low-income groups and communities of color. As a former New Yorker, I’m honored to be back in the city to serve these resilient communities in partnership with the City and Mayor DeBlasio. We are grateful to Curogram for providing the technology to help us seamlessly operate and procure test results quickly,” said CORE Co-Founder and CEO Ann Lee.

Curogram’s COVID-19 Testing Platform can be deployed in the following ways:

  • Curogram Registration Module – Patients can auto-register via website links or text message links. Registration data can include patient demographics, insurance information, and other pertinent info.
  • Curogram Screener – Organizations can automate standard CDC screening questionnaires to establish patient eligibility for testing.
  • Curogram Scheduler – Eligible patients can self-book in dynamic calendars designed for multiple testing sites.
  • Curogram Lab Module – Integration with multiple national labs automates electronic orders and results.
  • Curogram Patient App – Patients can automatically and safely receive their test results via a free HIPAA-compliant patient app.
  • Curogram Telemedicine – patients can get the help they need real-time through telemedicine visits

Since March 30, CORE’s team of 750 staff and volunteers has facilitated nearly 500,000 free tests at more than 40 test sites throughout the U.S., including California, Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois and the Navajo Nation. Through this expanded partnership, CORE will continue its efforts to deliver even more testing capacity, particularly to those hardest hit and underserved communities.

About CORE
CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a nonprofit organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee that is dedicated to saving lives and strengthening marginalized communities affected by or vulnerable to crisis. Within hours of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Sean Penn mobilized a powerful network to take immediate action. More than 10 years later, the organization continues to lead sustainable programs focused on four pillars: emergency relief, disaster preparedness, environmental resiliency and community building. The organization has expanded beyond Haiti to support communities in The Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the United States. CORE has taken a leadership position in the COVID-19 response to provide free testing for high-risk individuals and vulnerable communities. The organization has administered hundreds of thousands of tests across dozens of test sites across the nation, with a focus on low-income groups, communities of color, first responders and essential workers.
