Current Music Has Created the New IMSA Racing Theme for NBC Sports with Artist SIKORA

IMSA Racing comes to NBC Sports with a new theme song by Current Music and the band SIKORA. The new theme blends the hot sounds of electronic music, dubstep, drum and bass and complextro, with cinematic orchestral elements.

Coming from the electronic music world, (my bandmate) Liz and I had fun incorporating elements of dubstep, drum and bass, and complextro with a cinematic, orchestral feel to achieve an international sporty theme

NBC Sports reached out to Current Music asking them to create a custom theme song for their new IMSA car racing programs, the Weather Tech Racing series (broadcasting races from popular venues such as Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen) and the Michelin Pilot Challenge (“from showroom to the speedway”, showcasing the latest in high performance, American-made cars).

To hype up their new programs, they asked Current Music to come up with a custom theme song that embodies the speed, style and energy of car racing. They listened to all submissions and ended up choosing a piece by the band SIKORA.

“Coming from the electronic music world, (my bandmate) Liz and I had fun incorporating elements of dubstep, drum and bass, and complextro with a cinematic, orchestral feel to achieve an international sporty theme,” said Matthew Sikora.

SIKORA is no stranger to the sports broadcasting industry. They have previously written the theme song for NHL on NBC, the opening song for Fox Sports’ College Football Pregame Show and promos for Premiere League Soccer on NBC.
