Curriki Offers Two New Social Studies Collections

Curriki also plans to hold a webinar entitled "Civil Discourse in a Republic" on Wed., Sept. 12, at 3 PM ET, to help teachers use historical context to discuss the importance of civility in republican self-government. Bill of Rights Institute Curricula
The Voices of History collection is part of the Bill of Rights Institute's wide range of innovative, free, digital offerings featuring more than 300 individual resources, including lesson plans and student handouts. Written by teachers for teachers, the materials use narratives, primary sources, writing assignments, discussion prompts, and other activities. Voices of History lessons include:
- Being an American (explores the meaning of citizenship)
- Heroes and Villains (discusses the concepts of civic virtue)
- Founders and the Constitution: In Their Own Words (introduces 24 individuals who had a direct impact on the founding of the U.S. constitutional government)
- Preserving the Bill of Rights (teaches Constitutional principles by examining primary source documents and significant Supreme Court cases)
- and many more.
High School Civics Collection
The study of civics gives students the conceptual foundation they need to interpret their civic experiences. The Civics Course collection has over 100 lesson plans, multimedia resources, teacher's guides, supplementary materials, assessment ideas, and much more within seven units. Resources have been aligned to the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards:
Unit 1: Foundations of Government
Unit 2: The Constitution
Unit 3: The Legislative Branch
Unit 4: The Executive Branch
Unit 5: The Judicial Branch (Civil Rights and Liberties)
