CUSABIO has expanded its flexible recombinant antibody expression service for AI-driven antibody discovery, supporting projects from 1 to 1,000+ sequences with 3 mL, 10 mL and 20 mL expression options. Optional ELISA, SPR/LSPR and BLI validation enables teams to adjust wet-lab support from round to round.
HOUSTON, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CUSABIO today announced an expanded flexible recombinant antibody expression service designed to support the changing experimental needs of AI-driven antibody discovery. The service allows research teams to configure projects from a single antibody sequence to 1,000+ candidates, select 3 mL, 10 mL or 20 mL expression scales, and add binding or activity validation according to the needs of each discovery round.
Researchers can learn more about CUSABIO's Flexible Antibody Expression for AI Discovery and configure projects based on sequence count, expression scale and validation requirements.
AI-driven antibody discovery is inherently iterative. One design round may generate only a handful of high-confidence candidates, while subsequent optimization or screening rounds may expand to dozens, hundreds or more. Material requirements and experimental validation needs can also change as candidates progress.
CUSABIO's workflow is designed around three variables that can be adjusted independently from round to round:
- Sequence count: from one antibody sequence to 1,000+ candidates
- Expression scale: 3 mL, 10 mL or 20 mL according to material requirements
- Validation depth: expression only, or expression combined with optional ELISA, LSPR/SPR or BLI analysis
Rather than requiring antibody discovery programs to fit a preset batch size, the workflow allows teams to begin with a small number of candidates, expand expression capacity when a larger candidate pool emerges, and adjust experimental requirements as the project progresses.
"AI-driven antibody discovery rarely progresses in identical batch sizes from one round to the next," said Dr. Ying Zhou, Product Director at CUSABIO. "A team may need to test only several candidates in one cycle and hundreds in another. We designed this service so that the wet-lab workflow can adapt to the discovery process, rather than requiring discovery teams to adapt their projects to a fixed expression model."
Two Delivery Models for Different Discovery Needs
Expression Service Only is designed for organizations that already maintain internal binding, activity, specificity or functional screening platforms. CUSABIO handles recombinant antibody expression, purification and associated QC, while the research team conducts downstream testing internally.
Expression + Activity/Binding Validation integrates recombinant antibody production with experimental validation. Depending on the target, antibody format and project objective, optional methods include ELISA for target-binding screening and candidate prioritization, LSPR/SPR for real-time affinity and binding kinetics analysis, and BLI for label-free binding characterization.
The workflow is intended to support multiple stages of computational and AI-enabled antibody discovery, including initial candidate testing, sequence optimization, focused variant comparison, larger candidate screening campaigns and affinity characterization of selected leads.
For example, a research team can begin by expressing several high-confidence AI-designed candidates at small scale, expand to dozens or hundreds of variants in a later optimization round, and then increase expression scale or add binding characterization for prioritized antibodies. Sequence count, expression volume and validation scope can be reconfigured again in the next round.
"Flexibility is not only about processing a large number of sequences," added Dr. Zhou. "For iterative discovery, it is equally important to support a single candidate, a small focused panel or a larger screening campaign under consistent project and QC standards."
