CustomizedCrutches.com Announces the "Customized Hero" Program and Introduces First Hero
St Paul, MN (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- During the sponsorship a portion of each CustomizedCrutches.com sale will be donated to the Hero to be used in the purchase of specific equipment or service.

The first announced Customized Hero is Sydney Fitzpatrick, a twelve-year-old living with Cerebral Palsy from La Crescent, MN, who has never walked without support from crutches, leg braces or a walker.“To say she is amazing is clearly an understatement – every time I hear about what she is doing from her mom, Vikki Fitzpatrick, I am convinced that I can do ANYTHING. And that living is an amazing proposition,” Brown says of the twelve-year-old.
Sydney did get a test run with Bioness, simulators that work on the calf muscles allowing patients to walk unassisted, at Euro-Team Physical Therapy Clinic in Decorah, Iowa, where she has spent nine summers in intense therapy. And in total “Syd fashion”, she took off on them right away, reassuring her family that the simulators will work.
“The aim was to have the stimulators, which cost well over $13,000, by the start of this school year. But the insurance claim was denied”, said mother, Vikki Fitzpatrick Fitzpatrick tried to appeal, but her insurance company didn’t deem the stimulators necessary.
“It’s heart-breaking to have your child ask, ‘Why can’t I walk?’” Fitzpatrick said.
In addition to being the Customized Hero, Sydney has a website on gofundme.com to ask for private donations to help raise the money for Sydney to walk. The name of the campaign is “Please help Sydney walk with Bioness.” Customized Crutches is thrilled to support such a strong child, and have Sydney as the first Customized Hero.
