This patent is related to the defense rules against external attacks in a cloud based WAF (Web Application Firewall). CSC's web application firewall creates a rule to analyze external attacks and determine whether it is a cyber-attack or not. This rule is known as a signature.
As for WafCharm, a service that automatically optimizes signatures for AWS WAF depending on the user's website, it is necessary to select the most optimal signatures not only for the websites already in operation, but also for the websites that have not been published yet. Therefore, in this patent, CSC developed two "processing techniques" to select the most optimal signatures.

•     Technology for recommending signatures from the detection data of websites that have similar attacks against its web applications.
•     Technology to analogize the structure of web applications from their access data.

By combining these two newly developed technologies, it is possible to recommend signatures suitable for web applications without obtaining their structural information.
