A Wisconsin-based third party administrator (TPA), Cypress Benefit Administrators recently partnered with HealthJoy to offer its employer-clients a solution that will help employees become better consumers of care. It’s an easy-to-use, mobile-based app that provides resources and guidance in the decision-making process, while also helping to contain health plan costs.

Cypress Benefit Administrators has announced that it is partnering with HealthJoy to offer its employer-clients an additional tech-savvy solution for engaging their employees to become better consumers of health care.

Through this collaboration, the third party administrator (TPA) aims to help the end user (health plan member) navigate the often complex health care system and simplify access to the information and resources needed in the decision-making process.

The HealthJoy solution Cypress offers as an optional add-on to individualized self-funded plans is an easy-to-use, mobile-based guidance and engagement platform. It’s an app that brings together resources for members to access online doctors, health care concierge, prescription savings and other cost containment strategies in one place, right from a smartphone.

“A more engaged employee will lead to more informed decisions about care, and this will maximize quality and cost-effectiveness,” explained Tom Doney, president and CEO of Cypress. “We’re hearing our clients’ requests for health plan information that is less confusing and more accessible, and the HealthJoy solution is designed to address both.”

Cypress’s collaboration with HealthJoy allows members to have real-time, on-demand interactions right from their mobile devices as questions and care needs come up. The solution serves as a virtual assistant of sorts and helps with:

  • Telemedicine consult coordination
  • Provider or facility recommendations
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Opportunities for potential prescription savings
  • Health claim review

As Doney explains, the app maps out an employee’s benefits and integrates with even the most complex benefits packages. It will provide guidance with care decisions, help control health plan costs and eliminate questions directed to HR departments by up to 30%.

“This is such a multi-faceted program in that it can do everything from helping members identify savings on their prescriptions to pointing them from urgent care to telemedicine when an applicable program exists within a plan,” Doney said.

Cypress rolled out the HealthJoy solution to its own team earlier this year and is seeing positive results so far. Based on utilization rates, more than 50% of employees are using the solution each month.
