Durham, NC (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- D3 Community Outreach, Inc has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners - charities, families, businesses and individuals - to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.
Taking place December 3, 2013, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
D3 Community Outreach, a Durham, NC based non-profit, is an organization of positive adults that empower and encourage disconnected youth/young adults through academics, service, entrepreneurship and athletics to become leaders and good stewards of the community. In an effort to generate critically needed funding to support our ongoing student based community programs, D3 is launching its Capital Campaign in conjunction with #GivingTuesday. Contributions will help in ongoing efforts, empowering disconnected youth to strive for the pursuit of higher education as well as helping students with employable skills and on the job training.
President and Founder of D3 Community Outreach, Malcom Reed says, "I am excited about partnering with the day because it is something that I live my life by, being able to give to those who otherwise would not receive and/or have a voice. I hope to get the word out first and foremost and help raise funds for our programs."

About D3 Community Outreach:
Malcom Reed, originally from Atlantic City, New Jersey believes that youth should be respected and afforded quality opportunities that lead to empowerment, self-sufficiency and success. After playing professional basketball overseas and in the states he settled in Durham, NC. With desire and determination he developed and founded D3 Community Outreach, Incorporated a 501(c ) 3 youth organization that serves youth and young adults in the community.
D3's inaugural program the Hayti Basketball Summer League grew from 73 participants in 2006 to 223 in 2009, well over the maximum capacity that D3 could effectively serve. In the three years following, the organization reduced the number of participants served generating a waitlist which averages fifty to one hundred youth at any given time. Our T.R.U. Mentoring, Shining Star Academy and C.E.O. Institute combined served over 150 disconnected youth and young adults in the past 6 years. In 2007, D3 began hosting the Annual Youth Empowerment and College Tour as a way to expose and inspire young people to stay in school and strive to attend college. This free college tour is held annually in August and student participation is based on academics, character and service.
In 2012, D3 revamped its organizational program structure to better serve the needs of the community. D3 will provide services to youth through Achievers, C.O.R.E and the Hayti Basketball Summer League. To learn more about these programs, please visit our programs page.
