The GBS™ assesses the nutritional quality of all foods and beverages purchased during a shopping period of at least one month. By utilizing models based on nutritional densities, the methodology offers a comprehensive picture of dietary patterns. These densities—such as calories from sugar divided by total calories—provide a robust analysis, accounting for uncertainties like consumption frequency and the number of people sharing the basket. The semi-quantitative approach ensures relevance even when only a portion of food intake comes from the analyzed retailer.
