Dailymotion Launches Original Content in U.S.
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- Dailymotion today announced it has financed and developed its first original series in partnership with world-class chef and restaurateur Mario Batali, titled “Feedback Kitchen.”
“Feedback Kitchen” is a five-episode series that pairs Mario Batali with legendary musicians to unravel the similarities in the creative process that both musicians and chefs share, culminating with a meal featuring a new dish from Batali inspired by the musician and a performance. Guests already confirmed to appear on “Feedback Kitchen”, which started taping in early Feb. in New York, include The Edge, Flea, Patti Smith, Perry and Etty Farrell and Josh Groban. The series will be directed by award winning artist, photographer and filmmaker Steven Sebring.
“Dailymotion’s forward-thinking and artistic vision in the digital space is as unique as it is impressive. This project, merging together my two favorite passions of food and music, is unlike anything I’ve done before and I’m thrilled that Dailymotion believes in it as much as I do,” added Mario Batali.
Starting this month, Dailymotion will finance up to 6 projects in 2014 primarily in the unscripted category across music, gaming, entertainment and sports. All shows will air first on Dailymotion.com, which currently generates 16M monthly unique visitors in the U.S. and 127M globally (Comscore December 2013), with opportunities for syndication in the Dailymotion player across other platforms including Dailymotion’s current syndication partners – Yahoo!, MSN, Xbox, Roku and more.
“It’s our particular goal to package and distribute our own original IP that captivates and engages our existing community of over 127M global viewers season after season,” said Roland Hamilton, Dailymotion’s Managing Director U.S. “We believe having original and exclusive content is a great way to differentiate so we’re looking for interesting projects passion projects from extraordinary people that deserved to get made, much like Mario’s 'Feedback Kitchen'."
Batali, who resides in New York, where he opened his flagship restaurant (Babbo) in 1998, has been passionate about music since he was a child. He has incorporated music into his restaurant experiences since day one. Batali was notably the first chef to turn the volume up and play Zeppelin in an upscale dining room. Batali’s music (and decibel) choices famously prevented Babbo from earning a fourth star from the New York Times. “But I wouldn’t have it any other way,” says Batali.
