Dallas Chamber Symphony Announces New Details for 2015-2016 Concert Season
Dallas, TEXAS (PRWEB) November 02, 2015 -- Having reached a new milestone with sold-out performance of METROPOLIS, The Dallas Chamber Symphony is pleased to announce additional details of its 2015-16 concert season. This is the organization’s fourth season and like previous years, a rich variety of musical experiences will be offered.
Program highlights include the rarely-performed Concerto Grosso No. 1 by Ernest Bloch with soloist Eduardo Rojas, a Dallas-based virtuoso concert pianist. Acclaimed DCS Concertmaster Kazuhiro Takagi returns, and will be featured on Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins with Chloé Trevor. Buster Keaton’s THE GOAT will be screened as the orchestra performs a new film score by composer, Jon Kull. And the orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s popular Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring soloist Saetbyeol Kim, winner of the Dallas International Piano Competition 2015. The DCS will also host its fourth annual Dallas International Piano Competition in March and its third annual Sight of Sound Music and Film Project in April.
Due in large part to its relative impact, commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, the DCS is now a recipient of funding from the City of Dallas and State of Texas. It also receives funding from TACA and the Communities Foundation of Texas, among many others. Coming off a record 2014-2015 Concert Season (its second consecutive season to conclude with a budget surplus), the DCS has grown to become a mid-sized, performing arts nonprofit, which employs over one-hundred musicians each and every year. The Orchestra directly impacts more than 12,000 patrons through its concerts and outreach, and educates over 1,700 youth through its ongoing TechNotes programs in schools and around our community.

Kazuhiro Takagi and Chloé Trevor perform J.S. Bach’s stunningly beautiful Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. Pianist Eduardo Rojas will dazzle on Ernest Bloch’s powerful, yet rarely performed, Concerto Grosso No. 1. The orchestra finishes with Leos Janacek’s gorgeous Idyll Suite for Strings.
Buster Keaton's The Goat

The orchestra continues to introduce our community to contemporary masterpieces in a way that sends audiences home absolutely delighted. DCS musicians will impress on Hindemith’s demanding and colorful Kammermusik No. 1, as well as the Chamber Symphony by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Paul Moravec. Balancing the program is a fantastic new film score by Jon Kull, debuted to a screening of Buster Keaton’s hilarious classic, THE GOAT (The Scapegoat). Kull’s film credits as an orchestrator include Maleficent, The Hunger Games, The Amazing Spiderman, The Bourne Legacy, Avatar, and The Devil Wears Prada.

Enjoy four days of phenomenal performances, as some of the finest pianists in the world descend on Dallas compete in the annual Dallas International Piano Competition, held at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts. The winner will perform with the Dallas Chamber Symphony during the 2016-17 season. Public masterclasses will be taught by Dr. Carol Leone and John Perry. The event will be adjudicated by Logan Skelton, Ksenia Nosikova and Alan Chow.
Sight of Sound 2016

A mixed program of music and film, South Korean pianist and winner of the Dallas International Piano Competition 2015, Saetbyeol Kim, joins the Dallas Chamber Symphony for her subscription debut on Tchaikovsky’s popular Piano Concerto No. 1. This year’s Sight of Sound finalist films will debut with full orchestra, making this evening a spectacular, multi-media finale to an amazing season.
