LAS VEGAS (PRWEB) February 04, 2021
Dan Calugar, an experienced investor with a background in computer science, business, and law, has awarded the Dan Calugar Finance Scholarship to Theodore Perez. Perez’s entrepreneurial drive and journey in trading expressed through his 2,000-word essay were what made him stand out over many other applicants.
“Theodore Perez is a prime recipient for this scholarship, and we are honored to award the financial support to him and his bright future,” said Calugar.
Dan Calugar initiated the scholarship in 2020 with the goal of empowering future generations of finance professionals. The scholarship awards $6,100 to a high school senior or current college student interested in studying finance or striving to be a financial trader. The scholarship is intended to provide tuition for a full semester. Eligible high school seniors must already have an acceptance letter from an accredited university or college, and current college students have to be enrolled full-time at an accredited university or college as an in-state student. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is also required.
The scholarship essay requirement asked applicants to describe any experience in developing and trading algorithms for systematic trading of stocks, bonds, options, or futures. Applicants could also explain why pursuing algorithmic securities trading as a career is attractive.
“Theodore Perez demonstrated exemplary dedication and passion toward advancing his experience and education in trading. He utilizes the resources he has around him to his full advantage in bettering his skillsets in finance,” said Calugar.
According to Perez, trading has become a lifestyle due to the discipline, mental stamina, and drive required for success in the field. Perez expresses through his essay that finance teaches a wide variety of skills in analysis, financial literacy, capital budgeting, and more. He also highlights the four vital pillars to becoming a consistent trader, including forecasting, backtesting, journaling, and advanced self-review. The scholarship winner learned through a mentor that trading is ten percent fundamental and ninety percent psychological.
“I credit trading to a lot of my personal development and growth. With this being said, I am glad that there are people out there that recognize the hard work and diligence that student traders go through. I will forever be thankful for the financial gift the Dan Calugar Finance Scholarship group has awarded me with,” said Perez.
Perez’s trading strategy targets trading technical analysis, requiring a strong understanding of price action. Perez’s strategy consists of entries after pullbacks with a break of a daily higher low or lower high.
The Dan Calugar Finance Scholarship committee is also pleased to announce the opening of a $10,000 scholarship for the Fall term of 2021. For more information about The Dan Calugar Finance Scholarship, visit https://www.dancalugarscholarship.com/
