As of January 1, 2025, as part of the ONC's HTI-1 final rule, all Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are required to support the B11 Decision Support Interventions (DSI) criterion for predictive AI-based CDS tools. This requirement mandates that any AI models deployed to healthcare organizations list their source attributes, ensuring transparency and accountability in clinical decision support (CDS).
CHAI, a private-sector led industry coalition dedicated to responsible AI in healthcare, has successfully translated these source attributes into a streamlined model card, or 'nutrition label' for health AI. This structured format makes it easier for healthcare organizations to review AI models, fostering trust and confidence in AI-driven decision-making.
