"Mysterious Package Company. I’m not sponsor[ed], just think they’re awesome." - Neil Patrick Harris
TORONTO (PRWEB) June 13, 2019
The Mysterious Package Company, whose haunting storytelling has revolutionized the concept of narrative-by-mail, and whose first two Kickstarter campaigns smashed records for Canadian crowdfunding, has launched a third campaign to similar success.
Known cryptically as HASTUR, this latest Kickstarter has beguiled and baffled supporters (including noted actors Neil Patrick Harris and Mark Meer): it was funded in less than a day and doubled its $65k Canadian goal within a week, earning Kickstarter’s coveted “Projects We Love” label.
Incredibly (and perhaps unwisely) the Mysterious Package Company are working with the even more mysterious “Phantom of Truth Productions” on a revival of the infamous stage play of “The King in Yellow”, a theatrical venture widely believed to carry a curse that risks the life and sanity of anyone who participates.
While secrecy is a hallmark of the Mysterious Package Company, they are being even more cryptic than usual with regards to what HASTUR will deliver to backers. This mystery has only deepened the allure of the project, however, as many of the highest-value reward tiers are fully claimed: all five of the $1350 CAD “Patron of the Arts” awards, along with all twenty of the $750 “The Box” rewards, have been snapped up by supporters, despite a near-total lack of information as to what they will actually receive. All of the reward tiers can be found at the Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mysteriouspackage/hastur/
The anonymous “Curator” of the Mysterious Package Company was asked if they would elaborate as to what backers could expect when HASTUR ships in October 2019. Their succinct response: “No.”
About the Mysterious Package Company
The Mysterious Package Company (mysteriouspackage.com) was founded in 2012 and is the world’s leading pioneer in innovative storytelling-by-mail, thrilling and terrifying tens of thousands of customers with high-quality and truly bizarre experiences.
Current titles include the dreadful “Crate of Cthulhu,” a terrifying tribute to HP Lovecraft’s classic story; the time-travelling science fiction tale “Tempus Fugit”; and the multi-part murder mystery “Post Mortem”, in which the recipient takes on the role of a detective in an alternative 1940s LA. The company consists of two dozen artists, writers, designers, forgers, and other rogues. Rumor has it that they may be based in an ominous Toronto warehouse, but no one outside of the company knows for sure.
