GABORONE, Botswana, Feb. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Inspired by his personal experience of growing up in a harsh environment and as a policeman who saw what depression does to people, James Sonny pens his first book, "The Awakenings: Battle of the Mind" (published by AuthorHouse UK).
Sonny's dark-themed novel was born out of anger. He wrote the book when the universe was throwing nothing but darkness at him. He has been battling silent depression for years, trying to get out of the darkness' grip. Through this book, he reaches out to to those battling any form of depression to remind them not to give up.
The book, filled with metaphors, is about Harry Peterson, a man who has been struggling with nightmares that haunted him each night. Monsters and demons seem to appear in a very dark place in his dreams. How would he cope with and battle over this creatures in his mind?
Sonny reveals that many of the monsters introduced in this book are the troubles that people face on their day-to-day life. "The inspiration behind this book was to reach out to those people that have gone to the deep end and pull them back to the reality that there is still hope," he says. "Depression can kill. We all need someone to talk to, to overcome this monster."
