Data2X Announces Seven Experts to Join First Advisory Board and Boost Efforts to Improve Gender Data
Experts to provide advice and experience to support Data2X's mission to increase the availability and use of gender data
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Data2X announced today the members of its inaugural Advisory Board. An alliance housed at the United Nations Foundation, Data2X partners with United Nations agencies, governments, civil society, academics, and the private sector to increase the availability and use of gender data to improve the lives of women and girls.
The Data2X Advisory Board is comprised of individuals with deep expertise in development data, gender equality, and policymaking. Members include:
- Elizabeth Cousens, Deputy CEO, UN Foundation, who will chair the Board;
- Caren Grown, Senior Director, Gender, World Bank;
- Sarah Hendriks, Director, Gender Equality, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation;
- Johannes Jütting, Manager, PARIS21, Organisation for Economic Co-operation;
- Ruth Levine, Program Director, Global Development and Population, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation;
- Francesca Perucci, Chief, Statistical Services Branch, UN Statistics Division;
- Papa Seck, Chief Statistician, UN Women.
The formation of the Advisory Board comes at an important stage in Data2X's evolution. Since its inception in 2013, Data2X has worked to define and articulate global gender data gaps, experiment and problem solve with partners to close these gaps, and to elevate gender data as a top priority on the global agenda. As gender data has gained recognition, Data2X's priorities have expanded to ensuring the integration of gender data into data systems and building the necessary resourcing and political will to support gender data and its use for better, more equitable policies.
"I am thrilled to announce our Board and welcome these individuals to our team," said Emily Courey Pryor, Executive Director of Data2X. "Our new Board will help advise and support us as we work to meet our ambitious goals. Each of them has shown a steadfast commitment not only to Data2X, but also to the importance of gender data in driving global progress, and I'm honored that they will lend their strategic and technical expertise to our work."
The first meeting of the Advisory Board will take place on Wednesday, July 18 at the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C.
