Databilities® 2.0 highlights the importance of data culture and data ethics when building a data literate workforce
Recognised as the most comprehensive assessment of individual data literacy in the world, the Databilities® data literacy competency framework has been expanded to include key competencies relating to data culture, data ethics and data stewardship.
MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Since its release in 2018, Databilities® has been adopted by leading public and private sector organisations across the globe, with data literacy pioneers leveraging Databilities® to measure, map and develop data literacy across their organisations.
"Over the last 3 years, we've had the privilege of seeing Databilities® in action with organisations across many industries, geographies and sizes," said Jane Crofts, CEO, Data To The People. "Working in partnership with these diverse organisations, we've also seen growing recognition of the importance of data culture and data ethics as key components of successful data literacy programs. It makes absolute sense then that Databilities® should be expanded to highlight these critical features of a data literate organisation."
Whilst additional competencies were added to the Databilities® 2.0 framework, each of the original competencies have been retained to maintain consistency and enable future releases of the Global Data Literacy Benchmark study. Launched in October 2020, the Global Data Literacy Benchmark was the first independent measurement of data literacy at a competency level of more than 5,000 employees across the globe. "Revising Databilities® to include these additional competencies needed to also preserve the integrity of the original framework," said Crofts. "The original Databilities® framework was the foundation of our Global Data Literacy Benchmark, the first of which has now set a baseline for future annual studies."
The complete set of competencies covered by Databilities® 2.0 now includes:
