DataFile Reveals Annual Release of Information Accuracy Rate
DataFile Technologies has released 2018 accuracy performance numbers for its healthcare release of information services.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DataFile Technologies has released 2018 accuracy performance numbers for its healthcare release of information services indicating a consistently high quality level year over year. This announcement comes in the aftermath of a particularly poor year for health information management as a whole. The HIPAA Journal, a predominant source of news relating to health information compliance, reported numerous data breaches in 2018 including 18 breaches of HIPAA regulations that exposed at least 100,000 records each. Three of those exposed over 1 million records.[1]
According to data from the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights (OCR), even smaller providers and organizations struggled with HIPAA compliance in 2018 racking up 351 data breaches exposing 13,020,821 healthcare records. That's over 2.5 times the volume of records exposed compared to 2017, despite the number of breaches remaining nearly constant.
DataFile has consistently outperformed the industry and has avoided the negative trend. In 2018, it's processing volume grew substantially to over 20 million pages while it logged only two single-patient breaches and zero large breaches, thus maintaining their processing accuracy rate of 99.97%, well above the industry as a whole.
